Erik Gonzales, born Francisco Erik Gonzales, came into this world on May 31, 1978, in Fresno, California. Erik was an individual whose life was abundant with love, laughter, and a unique touch of humanity that made him an unforgettable character to all who knew him. Erik lived his life with the wisdom of the heart, touching lives with his unique blend of humor, courage, and compassion.
A devoted husband and father, Erik found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was a man who lived and breathed his passions, from his commitment to his work as a maintenance worker for the Tribal Government, to his love for video games that he shared with his sons. His loyalty as a steadfast fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Los Angeles Dodgers was renowned, and he was known to enjoy the camaraderie and friendly rivalry that these pastimes brought. Erik's love for his family was absolute, a pillar of strength and devotion that never wavered. Erik was always there, ready with a smile, a joke, or a comforting arm around the shoulders when times were tough. His spirit was contagious, and his presence lit up any room he entered.
Erik's memory will be cherished by his beloved family, his wife Doreen Gonzales and his children Elmer and Johnny Gonzales; his mother, Linda Gonzales Duarte, and his father, Francisco Gonzales Jr., along with his stepmother, Rita Gonzales. His siblings, Michelle Haggerty, Ray Moreno Jr., Alicia Kanemoto, and Angelica Banuelos, along with their respective partners and children, will hold dear the times spent with Erik.
As we gather to celebrate Erik's life on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of the Light, 1620 West Belmont Avenue, Fresno, California, we remember Erik as a man who lived his life to the fullest, unapologetically himself, and forever in our hearts.
