George Arthur Hernandez

–

Fresno, California

George Arthur Hernandez, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and proud U.S. Navy veteran, passed away leaving a legacy of loyalty, love, and thoughtful service. He was a man of many talents, and his life was marked by a unique blend of unwavering service, craftsmanship, and a sense of humor that made him a joy to be around.

George’s journey began in the Philippines, where he enlisted in the United States Navy in 1965, a decision that set a course for a lifetime of dedicated service. It was during these early years that he met the love of his life, Carmelita. They married in 1970 and later settled in California, where George was stationed at NAS Lemoore. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter, raising their two daughters, Michelle and Lorna. George served as a jet engine mechanic, a role perfectly suited for his meticulous nature and innate understanding of machinery. Even after retiring from active duty, he continued to support the military community as a civilian mechanic at NAS Lemoore, dedicating another twenty years of loyal service before retiring once more.

Retirement for George was no time for slowing down. Instead, it offered him more time to invest in his creative endeavors, tinkering around the house and making sure no task was left undone. A natural-born problem solver, George loved coming up with ingenious solutions to everyday problems. He filled his free time with music, singing karaoke, and assisting Carmelita in her classroom, where he won the hearts of her students with his good-natured jokes. George was also a familiar face in town, always ready to make new friends and share a laugh.

George Arthur Hernandez will be forever remembered by his daughters and sons-in-law, Michelle and Dale Alexander, and Lorna and Victor Cisneros; his grandchildren, Lauren Sugui and husband, Philip Sugui, Miles Alexander, and Aidan Alexander; and his great-granddaughter, Lorelai Sugui. His memory will also be cherished by his sister, Angelina Hernandez, and his brother, Ray Hernandez, along with many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who held him in high regard.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Peter Prince of the Apostles Church, located at 870 North Lemoore Avenue, Lemoore, California, 93245.

We encourage everyone who knew and loved George Arthur to leave memories and upload photos to his memorial page. His life story was filled with love, laughter, and loyalty, and we hope you will join us in celebrating his remarkable journey. His legacy of service, ingenuity, and kindness will continue to inspire us all.
