Gisela Solbrig

We gather here today to commemorate the inspiring and vibrant life of Gisela Solbrig, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and devoted teacher, who passed away on May 6, 2026, at the age of 91. Born to August and Maria Claus in Grand Island, Nebraska, on May 2, 1935, Gisela was the embodiment of resilience and perseverance. Her journey began in the heartland of America and led her to Fresno, California, where she became a respected pillar of the community.

Gisela's passion for knowledge and education was evident in her career as an elementary school teacher. For 25 years, she shaped the minds of countless young individuals, leaving an indelible mark on their lives. Her genuine love for children and dedication to their intellectual growth was paralleled only by her strength and courage, as she bravely battled dementia and cancer. Throughout her challenging journey, Gisela's son Larry Lamanuzzi provided unwavering care and support, reflecting the profound bond of love and respect they shared.

Gisela was preceded in death by her parents, August and Maria, as well as her siblings Maria and Hans.

She leaves behind a rich legacy embodied by her surviving family: sons Larry and Bruce Lamanuzzi, daughters-in-law Dena and Kim, grandsons Michael, Jeffrey, Jacob and his wife Nicole; granddaughter Elizabeth, and great-grandchildren Elijah, Blakely Pack, and Connor. Each of them carries a part of Gisela's spirit, engraved in their hearts through her teachings, love, and wisdom.

As we bid farewell to Gisela, we invite you to join us in celebrating her remarkable life at a graveside service to be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Belmont Memorial Park, 201 North Teilman Avenue, Fresno, California, 93706.
