Herminia “Mini” Hernandez was born on November 11, 1986 to Ezequiel and Alicia Hernandez. Mini assumed her role as the baby of the family, watching and learning from her 3 older siblings. She developed her love of card playing from her parents, and could learn to play new games instantly just by watching others play. She was funny, quick-witted, and loved spending time with her family, especially her nieces and nephews. Mini loved to travel, whether it was to visit family or explore new places. If there was a party, she was always willing to make the drive and often brought her mother, Alicia with her.
She graduated from Washington Union High School in 2005 and in January 2010, she received her Medical Assistant Certification through Heald College. She started her 10 year career at Advance Gastroenterology and Hepatology Associates in 2016. It was through her friends at work, that she was introduced to the love of her life, Sergio Leon in 2013. The two were married on September 5th 2015. The day was filled with love, laughter, and it was undeniable that Mini and Sergio were soulmates.
Shortly after their wedding, they started what turned out to be the long process of starting a family. After years and cycles of Infertility Treatments they were blessed with 2 beautiful girls, Nyah and Naomi. The birth of their girls was not only the highlight of their lives, it was the biggest blessing to all that knew them.
Mini and Sergio shared their love of family with their girls, often spending weekends with their loved ones. They wanted to show their girls the world and did so by traveling for special events and celebrations of family members in Arizona, Hawaii, Chicago, Detroit, Colorado, Los Angeles, and were even down for a last minute road trip to Seattle.
Mini was more than just a sister and an aunt, she was the designated baby sitter for her nieces and nephews, she always opened her home to family gatherings, especially during football season and holidays. She was the glue that held our family together, knowing all of the family history and stories, keeping in contact with all the family members who live across the country and Mexico, planning family gatherings and a loving caretaker for her parents. But more than anything, she was the best mom to Nyah and Naomi. The girls were the center of Mini and Sergio’s world, there was nothing that they would not do for them.
Mini was survived by her father, Ezequiel Hernandez, her sister, Maria and her husband Sean Carrell, her brother Jose and his wife Rita Hernandez, and her brother Gerardo and his wife Alexis Hernandez, her six nephews Phillip, Isaiah, Bret, Matthew, Jordan and Adam, her niece Kayla and great nieces Chloe and Ellie.
She was preceded in death by her mother Alicia and her nephew Noah.
Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure, you are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.
