Jerry "Dean" Murphy

Jerry “Dean” Murphy passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 17, 2026, surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Dean was born on May 27, 1936, to Lucile Schaffer (Clemons) in Norman, Oklahoma. Dean moved to California’s Central Valley at a young age and graduated from Roosevelt High School in Fresno. After completing high school, Dean furthered his education at the University of Mexico, studying Religious Anthropology. He also pursued many passions including sailing, scuba diving, and racing. His passions combined with his quick-thinking mind, fearless ambitions, and excellent intuition took Dean on many adventures across the world.

Eventually, Dean settled down into a life as a Real Estate Entrepreneur back in the Central Valley, where he became very successful.

Dean had many loves, but his children were his ultimate love. Dean is survived by his wife, Esti; nine children (Jerry Dean II, Jan, Becky, Bonnie, Dory, Dawn, Lemoore, Adora, & Elle); many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and his brother, Jim, and two nieces. Dean was preceded in death by his mother Lucile, stepfather John, and brother Johnny.

There will be a private interment, with a Memorial Service to be planned at a later date.
