Jose Garcia Jr.

–

Biola, California

Jose Garcia Jr., 64, passed away in Fresno, CA, on June 17, 2026. Born on December 25, 1961,
in Fresno, he was affectionately known to everyone as “Buffalo” or simply “Buff.” He was the
son of Jose and Gregoria Garcia and spent most of his life in the small community of Biola, CA,
where he formed lifelong friendships and left a lasting impression on everyone who crossed his
path.
Buff was a free spirit in every sense of the word. He loved the outdoors and found joy in
gardening and working in the yard. He lived life entirely on his own terms—strong‑willed,
independent, and guided by a deep belief that life would always provide what he needed. He was
never one to ask for help, even when life grew heavy, yet he was always willing to lend a hand to
a friend in need. His path was not without struggle, and many of his choices brought hardship.
Yet even in those difficult chapters, Buff remained resilient and true to himself, carrying a
strength that few ever fully understood.
He enjoyed watching football, especially cheering for the Washington Redskins, a name he
proudly stuck with, refusing to call them Commanders. He identified with Native American
culture, from wearing his hair long to holding a deep respect for the land and living a quiet,
solitary life. He had a natural talent for tinkering and repairing—bicycles, radios,
appliances—anything that needed fixing. Music was one of his greatest joys, especially when it
was loud enough to feel. His wide circle of friends was drawn to his opinionated humor, his
honesty, and the unexpected helpfulness he offered so freely. Though he often wore a serious
expression, beneath that exterior was a heart full of quiet kindness, loyalty, and genuine care.
Buff lived with a carefree nature, never tied to plans or routines. He had a complicated
relationship with rules and authority, preferring instead to live one day at a time, without
complaint and without burdening others with his worries or challenges. Though he struggled
quietly and carried more than he ever let on, he faced life with a resilience that was uniquely his.
He was smart, insightful, and perceptive, even if he never felt the need to follow a traditional
path or conform to expectations.
Buff is survived by his son, his grandchildren, and his siblings, all of whom carry his memory
forward with love. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Gregoria Garcia, and by his
brother, David Garcia.

A viewing will be held on July 1, 2026, from 9:00–10:00 a.m., followed by a recitation of the
Rosary at 10:00 a.m. and a Christian funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Queen of Apostles
Church. After the Mass, family and friends will proceed to Fresno Memorial Gardens for burial.
Those who knew him will remember a man who was unapologetically himself—a man who lived
deeply in his own way, who valued freedom above all else, and who leaves behind stories,
laughter, and a presence that will be missed more than words can express.

In remembering Jose, we invite you to share your memories, stories, and photos on his memorial page. Each contribution will serve to keep his generous spirit alive in our hearts.
