Sanger, California
Lydia Aurelia Ramirez, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at home on April 22, 2026, at the age of 84. She was surrounded by family following a three-year battle with ALS.
Born in Mesa, Arizona, on January 3, 1942, to Guadalupe and Francisca Herrera, Aurelia's life was a testament to hard work and service. She worked for many years as a beautician and later served as a sales manager for Father Hannibal House in Sanger, where she selflessly helped those in need. Known for her extraordinary work ethic and huge heart, she befriended everyone she met and was a mother figure to many of our friends who called her mom. She was kind, compassionate, and truly the life of every party.
Aurelia is survived by her sons, Hank Ramirez, Jr., Richard Ramirez and his wife Sandy, and Greg Ramirez; her daughter, Kristi Ramirez; her grandchildren, Richard Ramirez, Jr., Adam Ramirez and his wife Rosie, Christopher Anaya, Alyssa Menchaca, and Steven Bustamante; and her great grandson Isaiah, great-granddaughter, Lauren; her brother and best friend Ernest Herrera and his wife Nelda. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hank Ramirez; her parents; her siblings, Sara and Lupe; and her grandson, Henry Ramirez.
We were blessed to call her "mom." She was the foundation of our family and will remain in our hearts forever. Aurelia will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Per Aurelia's request, please wear Western attire (jeans and boots) to her service. She did not want anyone to get dressed up; she simply wanted everyone to celebrate her life and reminisce.
In honor of Lydia's life and faith, a recitation of the holy rosary and a funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 2590 E. North Avenue, Sanger on Friday, May 29, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. A reception will follow at St. Mary's Hall.
We encourage all who knew and loved Lydia to celebrate her life by sharing their memories and photos on her memorial page. Your stories will help keep her spirit alive, and remind us all of the love and joy she brought into our lives. "There are some who bring a light so great to the world that even after they have gone, the light remains." Lydia Ramirez was certainly one of those individuals.
