Fresno, California
Rafael, born February 2, 1976 in Madera, CA, lived a life marked by love, strength, and a deep devotion to his family and community. He spent most of his life in Fresno, California, where he worked in agriculture and the food industry. He was a devoted and protective father, son, and brother—always the first to stand up for those he loved and for anyone in need. As a big brother, he carried that same protective spirit throughout his life.
From childhood, Rafael had a passion for art, and he also found great joy in bringing people together—especially through cooking and hosting barbecues for family and friends. To him, family always came first. He welcomed everyone with open arms and a warm smile, making others feel at home in his presence.
Rafael is survived by his children, Angel and Nicolette; his mother, Micaela; and his five siblings. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nicole; his son, Joe; his granddaughter, Analea; and his father, Pablo Herrera.
