Rafael Mendibles

Rafael Mendibles, born on August 25th, 1940, in Dos Palos, California, was a beacon of hope, faith, and love in the lives of many. He was a cherished brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His life was a testament to the power of compassion, dedication, and unwavering faith. Rafael lived every day, touching countless lives through his service as a pastor and his commitment to helping those most in need.

Rafael graduated from Dos Palos High School in 1958 and went on to acquire a Certificate in Accounting. His professional journey began at Chevron, where he worked tirelessly until retirement. Not one to rest on his laurels, Rafael then embraced his divine calling and became a minister. He served the communities of Fresno and Clovis, California, with love and dedication, focusing particularly on those struggling with addiction, rehabilitation, and homelessness. His impact extended beyond his family, reaching the hearts of those he served in his community.

Rafael leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. He is survived by his sisters Marylou, Yolanda, Rebecca, and sisters-in-law Sherree and Evie. His brothers Peter, Daniel, and brother-in-law Gene also survive him. Rafael's sons Eric, Manual, Wico, and Daniel, and daughters-in-law Susan, Carolyn, and Karesa mourn his loss alongside his grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his father Rafael, mother Maria, brother Roy, son Ralph III, and his wives Rachel, Gloria, Jannie, and Rosemary.

A Celebration of Rafael's life will be held on Thursday, October 8th, 2026, at 11:00 am at Fresno Memorial Gardens, 175 South Cornelia Avenue, Fresno, California, 93706. As we remember Rafael, let us not forget the words of Kahlil Gibran, "For life and death are one, even as the river and the sea are one." Rafael's physical presence may no longer be with us, but his spirit continues to inspire and guide us.
