Robert Cota

–

Fresno, California

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Higuera Cota, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. Robert, a proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, and a dedicated employee of the VA Medical Hospital, left us on June 11th, 2026, at the age of 55. Born on March 1st, 1971, in San Jose, California, he later moved to Fresno, where he resided for twenty-five years. As Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, "The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well." This quote truly encapsulates Robert's unwavering dedication to his family, service, and community.

Robert is remembered for his exceptional service in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he served with distinction for thirteen years, rising to the rank of Sergeant. His love for his country was only surpassed by his love for his family. Robert and his beloved wife, Adela, were married for 36 incredible years, and together they raised four wonderful children, Jacob, Robert, Jacqueline, and Jesse. His joy was amplified by the arrival of his four grandchildren, Naomi, Ellee, Sebastian, and Billee, whom he adored deeply. He was a beacon of strength, courage, and resilience for his family, always leading by example. As his family expanded, Robert's heart only grew larger, enveloping each new addition with unwavering love and devotion.

Robert was a beacon of strength, courage, and resilience, always leading by example. He is survived by his wife, Adela, his children, grandchildren, his sisters, Christina and Elizabeth, and his brother, James. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Guadalupe, and his sister, Cecilia. In the words of Helen Keller, "What we have once enjoyed deeply we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us." Robert's memory will forever be etched in the hearts of all who loved him and will continue to inspire future generations.

We invite you to share your memories and upload photos of Robert to the memorial page, so we can all remember and celebrate his remarkable life. His legacy will live on in the stories we share and the love we carry in our hearts.
