With profound sadness, we share the news of the passing of a remarkable man, Sergio "Checo" Leon. A native of Sanger, California, Sergio was a beacon of light in the lives of many, radiating warmth, joy, and strength. His vibrant spirit and the love he shared with those fortunate enough to know him will forever echo in our hearts.

Sergio was a masterful cabinet maker, crafting beautiful pieces with the precision and attention to detail that defined his work at the Steel Company for a decade. But his real craftsmanship lay in how he built relationships, with a heart full of kindness and a spirit brimming with generosity. He had a unique ability to make people feel seen, heard, and valued. His radiant smile, infectious laughter, and captivating storytelling brought joy to every gathering. As Maya Angelou once said, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Sergio lived this truth every day.

Sergio's legacy is one of unwavering loyalty and compassion. He was a unifying force in his family and community, his presence alone enough to bring people together. His love for his family was his compass and his joy, guiding him through life and bringing light to theirs. The memories he crafted with his loved ones are a testament to a life lived with love and laughter, a life that will be remembered and celebrated.

Sergio is survived by his loving parents, Sergio and Juanita Leon; his cherished wife, Herminia Arias; and his adored cousin, Itzia Zamarripa. As we navigate this profound loss, we remember Sergio not with sorrow, but with gratitude for the beautiful life he lived and the positive impact he made on all of us.

Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation for Sergio at St. Mary's Catholic Church (2590 East North Avenue, Sanger, California, 93657) on Monday, June 29th at 5:00pm PDT. A rosary will be held at the same venue at 6:00pm PDT. The funeral mass will be held at St. Mary's Queen of the Apostles (4636 W Dakota Ave, Fresno, California, 93722) on Tuesday, June 30th at 10:00am PDT, followed by graveside service at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery (264 North Blythe Avenue, Fresno, California, 93706) at 11:15am PDT.
