Cantua Creek, California
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Sergio Sosa Aviles, a generous and compassionate soul, on June 26, 2026. Born on May 19, 1974 in Michoacán, Mexico, Sergio was a beacon of light for anyone who knew him. His humble beginnings in Michoacán instilled in him a deep appreciation for life that radiated to everyone he met. He lived a full and fulfilling life in Cantua Creek, California, for thirty years, where his warm spirit and kind heart touched the hearts of many.
Sergio found great joy in working the fertile soils of Cantua Creek as a farm laborer for thirty years. Despite the physically demanding nature of his work, he never shied away from lending a helping hand, always offering his assistance with a smile. He was the epitome of generosity, not just in his daily actions, but also in his ultimate gift of life through organ donation. It was through this gift that Sergio continued to express his compassion, even in his passing, by giving others the chance at life. His generosity knew no bounds, and his legacy will continue to inspire and live on through the lives he saved.
Sergio is survived by his beloved mother, Socorro Aviles; his cherished siblings, Sandra Sosa and her husband Oscar Octavio, Carina Sosa, and Gustavo Sosa and his wife Angela Sasaki. He is preceded in death by his father, Florentino Sosa. Sergio's love for his family was evident in his every action, and his absence will leave a void that can never be filled. Yet, it is in this emptiness that we find the strength to celebrate his life, to remember the generosity, compassion, and humility that defined him.
A Funeral Mass will be announced in the coming days at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Cantua Creek.
The family extends an invitation to all who knew and loved Sergio to share their memories and photos on his memorial page. Let us honor his extraordinary life by sharing our stories and remembering the wonderful person he was.
